Position: Paid Internship - Sports Research Project
Duration: 6-12 weeks (flexible start date)
Location: Remote (Zone7 team based in Palo Alto, London, and Tel Aviv)
Internship Description: Zone7 is offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team for a special internship program. This internship will focus on a research project aimed at quantifying various impacts of athlete availability in professional sport. Leading this research track, you will have the chance to delve into various aspects of sports economics, including media value, social media impact, prize money, and gate/ticket receipts. The primary objective is to analyze and understand how these factors are influenced when players are unavailable due to injuries.
Conduct extensive research on the financial impact of injuries in sports, specifically exploring the areas of media value, social media, prize money, and gate receipts.
Collect and analyze data from diverse sources to identify patterns and correlations between player availability and financial outcomes.
Collaborate with the Zone7 team to interpret findings and present actionable insights.
Assist in the creation of comprehensive reports and presentations to summarize research findings.
Contribute to the development of innovative methodologies to further improve how we quantify the costs of injury risk assessment and management.
Strong interest in sports, particularly the intersection of sports and business/economics.
Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to gather and interpret data effectively.
Proficient in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Python, R, or similar).
Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in sports management, economics, business analytics, or a related field (preferred, but not required).
Previous research experience or coursework in sports economics is a plus.
