Major League Baseball is seeking a Manager to join Club Business Operations & Strategy (CBOS). CBOS is part of MLB’s Strategy & Development group, a centralized resource within Baseball’s Office of the Commissioner that works cross-functionally to develop and execute strategies to grow baseball globally. This position will be a key liaison between the MLB League office and MLB Clubs, leveraging data analytics, strategic insights, and industry best practices to drive revenue, fan engagement, and operational excellence across all 30 Clubs. The CBOS Manager will work cross-functionally with Product, Ticketing, Technology, Finance, Marketing, and Sponsorship to serve as an active voice for Clubs in shaping and operationalizing League-wide strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate is not only capable of interpreting data but can also synthesize information from multiple sources, identify scalable solutions and best practices, and communicate with a wide variety of audiences. This role requires managerial experience, strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, the ability to own projects from inception to execution, and an entrepreneurial mindset.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 4+ years of experience in Consulting, Finance, Strategy, or related field

  • Experience in Sports (ideally Team or League) and/or Media & Entertainment a plus

  • Exceptional data evaluation skills with the ability to interpret information from various sources and offer creative, practical, actionable insights

  • Ability to work cross-functionally, prioritize, and multi-task, often in an ambiguous environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of an organization

  • Excellent teamwork, leadership, organizational, and time management skills

  • Experience developing and mentoring junior team members

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; SQL experience preferred

  • Entrepreneurial mindset; thrives in a fast-paced, intellectually intense, and highly collaborative environment

  • Well-organized and detail-oriented

  • Equally comfortable driving analyses or receiving direction, leading or contributing as appropriate, driving conversations or supporting as necessary


Responsibilities

  • Lead benchmarking efforts that explore, evaluate, and recommend best-practice strategies across fan development, revenue, and operational excellence for all 30 Clubs

  • Perform detailed quantitative (e.g., market analyses, consumer trends) and qualitative (e.g., case studies) analyses and develop actionable recommendations for MLB Clubs to drive revenue growth and fan engagement

  • Develop analytical approaches to transform complex data into thoughtful, actionable, and scalable insights for all Clubs

  • Build strong relationships and collaborate with team members across multiple functions at both the League and Clubs (e.g., Ticketing, Sponsorship, Marketing) to identify high-potential opportunities, source data/resources, and align strategies

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to a broad range of audiences at the League and at Clubs, including senior executives

  • Recruit, train, and actively develop a team of analysts

  • Assist with planning and executing CBOS-led workshops and League-wide meetings

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $90,000 to $125,000.


As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision. In addition to your salary, MLB believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package for its employees.
