About the Role:

Recently acquired by private equity group MSP Capital, X Games is searching for a full-funnel marketing executive, brand expert, and visionary who can build on X Games' storied history and lead the brand into the future.


As VP of Marketing & Brand Strategy, you will play a key role in shaping the future identity of this action sports brand. You will utilize your wealth of strategic rigor, entertainment knowledge, and curiosity, blended with insights-driven planning and execution to shape and influence the next chapter of the X Games brand while integrating 27 years of legendary history.


Effectively a start-up, you will define and grow a full-funnel marketing strategy for existing and new channels — incorporating but not limited to brand, performance, growth, and lifecycle — to take the X Games brand to new heights. Comfortable in ambiguity and no stranger to rolling up your sleeves, you are always two steps ahead, forging into the future at warp speed to create meaningful campaigns that capture the attention of existing and new audiences. You will gather insights to develop a refreshed brand position and translate them into a stunning new identity. All this is to help showcase an expanded event portfolio that will allow X Games to grow and serve the action sports community. You’re a natural collaborator, able to easily endear yourself to others, develop meaningful relationships, and solicit followership.


Responsibilities:

  • Own the X Games brand and creative marketing strategy

    • Design and execute a refreshed brand strategy and identity informed by research that reflects the voice of the customer

    • Drive the development of “always on” and seasonal/trend-driven marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness, consideration, and conversion

    • Devise, manage, and communicate a calendar of new, recurring campaigns of varying sizes and frequency, including specific initiative-based campaigns around tentpole events

  • Design and execute a research strategy that will accurately and effectively gather the voice of the customer

    • Synthesize multiple data points to provide meaningful insights and actionable takeaways to lead the development and iteration of forward-thinking campaigns that will capture new audiences and reinvigorate core fans

    • Spearhead the development of 360 marketing strategies for the expanded event portfolio, including product positioning and naming, target audience(s), creative development, launch timing and channel approach

  • Cultivate meaningful and collaborative key relationships internally across the X Games team and externally with agencies in order to execute a brand position that drives audience growth and engagement

    • Establish and maintain effective partnership with the Sales team to ensure marketing strategies enhance all existing and future partnerships; including creating marketing collateral that drives sales conversations and conversions

    • Collaborate across the entire team in the development and execution of marketing partnership opportunities that will help reach new audiences and enhance brand positioning

    • Partner with leads across the organization to refine product value prop, establish product-market fit, and design brand pillars that support both our B2C and B2B offerings

    • Collaborate in the development and execution of content strategy

  • Drive and lead the marketing strategy across brand and creative marketing, performance marketing, incubating new marketing and growth channels for the company

    • Design key performance metrics that drive new marketing initiatives and growth channels

    • Utilize performance analytics to inform key decisions regarding marketing strategy

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in a marketing or branding role at a big tech sports, entertainment or media brand

  • Experience designing and launching, or refreshing brands with global exposure

  • Extensive experience leading and executing breakthrough creative marketing, advertising and communications strategies and campaigns

  • Team leader effective at collaborating across multi-disciplinary team and mentoring staff

  • Has been a member of an executive leadership team in a culture where Marketing had a true "seat at the table"

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA

  • Content Platform experience

  • Big tech and or media experience
